Covens are the social layer of The Living Chronicle. They are small (5–25 player) groups inside your faction that read, discuss, and coordinate together.
Finding a coven
- Open Community → Browse covens.
- Filter by faction, language, activity level, or playstyle.
- Tap a coven to read its description, member count, and house rules.
- Tap Request to join. Most covens auto-accept; some require leader approval.
What you can do in a coven
- Discuss the day's chapter in a focused chat thread.
- Share theories before they go to the public theory board.
- Coordinate faction operations.
- See the coven's faction rank and territory contributions.
Coven sizes
- Small — 5–10 members. Tight-knit, slower discussion.
- Medium — 10–20 members. The most popular size.
- Large — 20–25 members. Active, fast-moving, harder to keep up with.
We cap covens at 25 to keep discussion intimate and prevent guild-style organizations from dominating votes.
Leaving a coven
Covens are not contracts. Settings → Coven → Leave coven. There is no cooldown.
Solo players
You do not have to join a coven. Solo play is fully supported and the Free Marchlands in particular is designed around independent investigators.
Coven rules
Every coven has its own house rules. Site-wide rules are enforced by the Acceptable Use Policy — see Coven rules for the basics.
