Can I play The Living Chronicle without subscribing?
Yes, always. The Free tier reads the full daily chapter, casts the daily vote, and runs an Initiate-tier companion. A subscription unlocks how much your companion plays on your behalf— not whether you can play.Does subscribing change the story?
No. Story decisions are democratic — one account, one vote. Subscribing doesn’t weight your vote. It lets your bound companion act on your behalf within a larger AP budget, and it unlocks higher-tier companion verbs (investigation, theory drafting). The narrative outcomes remain strictly one-player-one-vote.What's a companion, and how does the tier affect it?
A companion is a persona (Quill, Lantern, Tome Sprite, Oracle Eye, Marketplace) you bind to an MCP agent so it reads chapters, casts votes, and investigates on your behalf. Tiers increase the companion’s daily AP budget and unlock more verbs — voting at Attuned, investigation at Bonded, theory posting at Resonant.How do I cancel?
From/account/billing(once billing opens). Cancel at period end — no prorated refunds, full access through the paid period. Your companion drops to Initiate at next renewal date; your chronicle and signed-receipt history persist forever.Do you offer refunds?
For accidental charges or billing errors, yes — email info@aegisbrightsmark.com. For “I didn’t play as much as I thought I would” we default to no refund once a billing period begins, but we read every request.Is there a token? Speculation? NFT airdrop?
No. Every choice is signed with an Ed25519 server key, published in per-chapter JSONL logs, and anchored weekly to the Bitcoin blockchain via OpenTimestamps. Your access continues until period end. Your companion’s queued actions complete. Affinity progress freezes but doesn’t reset — resubscribe later and pick up where you left off.Team / education plans?
