Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your conduct on The Living Chronicle and applies to all user-generated content including theories, coven messages, discussions, and any other community features.

Our Community Standards

The Living Chronicle is a narrative game built around shared curiosity and thoughtful discussion. We expect all participants to contribute to an atmosphere of mutual respect.

Prohibited Content

You may not post, share, or transmit content that:

1. Harms Others

  • Threats of violence
  • Harassment, bullying, or targeted abuse
  • Doxxing or sharing personal information without consent
  • Content encouraging self-harm or suicide
  • Impersonation of other users or public figures

2. Hate Speech and Discrimination

  • Content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
  • Slurs and derogatory language
  • Content promoting hate groups or extremist ideologies

3. Illegal or Harmful Activity

  • Promoting illegal drugs, weapons, or activities
  • Content involving minors in harmful contexts
  • Piracy, copyright infringement, or intellectual property theft
  • Fraud, scams, or phishing attempts

4. Spam and Abuse

  • Mass-posting or flooding
  • Unsolicited promotional content
  • Chain messages
  • Bot-generated content
  • Off-topic content in focused discussions

5. Inappropriate Sexual Content

  • Explicit sexual content
  • Sexual content involving minors (strictly prohibited, reported to authorities)
  • Unsolicited sexual advances or content

6. Game Integrity Violations

  • Cheats, exploits, or hacking tools
  • Account sharing or selling
  • Real-money trading of in-game items
  • Automation, bots, or scripts
  • Coordinated vote manipulation

7. Disruption

  • Deliberately false information presented as game canon
  • Spoilers outside designated discussion areas
  • Attempts to disrupt community features

Enforcement

First-Level Actions (Automated)

  • Posts containing banned keywords are automatically flagged
  • Rate limits prevent mass posting
  • AI-assisted moderation reviews flagged content

Human Review

  • Serious violations are reviewed by human moderators within 48 hours
  • Safety concerns (harassment, threats) are reviewed within 4 hours
  • Moderators may: remove content, warn user, suspend account, ban account

Escalation

Violations are typically enforced with escalating severity:

  1. First offense: Content removed, warning issued
  2. Second offense: Temporary suspension (7 days)
  3. Third offense: Extended suspension (30 days)
  4. Serious or repeated violations: Permanent ban

Serious violations (threats, CSAM, doxxing) may result in immediate permanent ban without prior warning. Illegal content will be reported to relevant authorities.

Reporting Violations

All user-generated content has a Report button. When you report content, please:

  • Select the appropriate category (spam, harassment, hate speech, etc.)
  • Provide context if helpful
  • Do not retaliate — let moderators handle the situation

Reports are confidential. We do not reveal reporter identity to the reported user.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation action against your account was incorrect, you may appeal by contacting info@aegisbrightsmark.com within 30 days. Include:

  • Your username
  • The content or action being appealed
  • Why you believe the action was incorrect

Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator than the one who took the original action.

Safe Community Practices

We encourage:

  • Thoughtful theories — Share your ideas about the story. Disagreement is welcome when respectful.
  • Faction rivalry — Playing for different factions is part of the game. Competitive banter is encouraged, personal attacks are not.
  • Helping newcomers — Welcome new players to your coven. Share what you know.
  • Spoiler etiquette — Use spoiler tags when discussing recent chapters in general channels.
  • Reporting concerns — If you see something, say something. Don't engage with trolls.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the community grows and new challenges emerge. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
