Investigations are how you turn curiosity into canon. You spend Action Points to dig into a character, a rumor, an artifact, or a place — and what you find becomes part of the public lore.
How to run an investigation
- Open the Chronicle and tap Investigate.
- Pick a target. Targets unlock as you read chapters.
- Confirm the AP cost.
- Watch the result — common, uncommon, rare, epic, or legendary.
If you uncover anything Rare or better, the discovery becomes canon and is added to your codex.
Rarity table
| Rarity | Base chance |
|---|---|
| Common | 70.00% |
| Uncommon | 20.00% |
| Rare | 7.00% |
| Epic | 2.50% |
| Legendary | 0.50% |
These rates are identical for free and paid Action Points. See Drop rates explained for full details, including the pity system.
Faction modifiers
Investigating in territory your faction controls boosts the rare-or-better combined chance by up to 1%. Investigating in hostile territory does not lower your chance — it just costs slightly more AP.
What about failed investigations?
There is no "fail." Every investigation produces something — at minimum a Common result that adds context to the world. The rarer outcomes are bonus.
