The Chronicle is a living, ongoing story. Not everyone reads the daily chapter at the same time, and some players come back to old chapters weeks or months later. Spoiler etiquette matters.
The 24-hour rule
Anything from the most recent chapter is off-limits in public spaces (Discord general chat, public theory board, social media) for 24 hours after publication. After that, the chapter is fair game in spaces explicitly marked for current discussion.
Inside covens
Inside your coven, there is no 24-hour rule. Covens exist for active discussion of the latest chapter, and members opt into that.
Spoiler tags
When discussing recent events in any non-coven space, use the spoiler tag:
- In the app — wrap text with
||double pipes||to render as a hidden spoiler. - On Discord — same syntax:
||spoiler text||. - On the public theory board — every theory has a "contains spoilers from" field. Set it.
What counts as a spoiler
- Anything that happened in the current chapter.
- Anything from a rare or better discovery that has been canonized in the last 7 days.
- Predictions about upcoming chapters that are based on leaked information or staff communication.
What does not count
- Faction philosophy. Knowing the four factions and what they stand for is core to onboarding.
- Anything from Episode Zero (the teaser).
- Anything more than 7 days old.
Enforcement
Repeated spoiler-policy violations are treated as community disruption. First offense: warning. Second: 7-day suspension. Third: permanent ban from public spaces (covens are unaffected).
